Hanging out with boyfriend's mom?

My boyfriend of a little over a year is currently in basic training for the army right now. It's already been three weeks, but it feels like forever. His mom and I keep in touch through Facebook a lot and it always helps talking to her whether it's about something random or new information on my boyfriends training. She asked about meeting up for dinner so it's not just always us texting. I'd love to, but I am a terribly awkward person and I'll be nervous. I've never really been with his family without him with me. I love my man and I'd love nothing more than to get to know the woman that raised him and loves him very much. Any advice/words of wisdom? 😅
