Please use this as a learning opportunity and not a reason to bash Mama's... Growing up I remember being taught once they have proper head control you can turn...boy was that wrong and I'm glad someone corrected me before I had kids!

I just turned my 4 year old around on her 4th birthday. My 3 year old and 7 month old are rear facing still of course. I bought the graco extend2fit purposely because it’s a great seat for extended rear facing.

I’d like to say that it’s extremely upsetting how many people say they turned they’re kid because their legs were bunched up, or they have to sit with their legs crossed. Even with crossed legs, rear facing is safest, better to have broken legs instead of a broken neck. Rear facing is recommended until age 2, but it is safest until 4 when your child’s spine has properly developed.

My third turns 2 in a couple weeks. Honestly I don’t see the reason to flip him forward. My 5 and 6.5 year olds are of course forward facing. I flipped them both before they turned 3.

Most car seats say that once your child is 2+ that it’s safe to turn them forward facing. We are planning on turning our little one around as soon as she’s 2. According to our car seat she is already in the weight and height requirements to be forward facing. 
But it’s also said that its safest to keep your child rear facing as long as possible.
So it’s really up to you and what you think.

I'm gonna have to turn her at 2 so I can fit the newborn carseat in my car with hers. 
She definitely won't make the regular recommended weight, but I feel like she's already got her knees folded up because her legs are so lanky. She's a small kid, but there's no way that's comfortable.
