Hubby has to work during the day, should someone stay with me near due date time?

Question

My husband is a small business owner, if he doesn't work we don't get paid, I help with the business but stay home. He can't take time off to wait for the baby's grand unpredictable arrival. 
I'm only 26 weeks currently and due in May, first time mommy.  Just planning for it.  He can be anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour away. 
My siblings and cousins/aunts all live out of state or an hour or two away. No mom in my life except my mother in law. I love my MIL but no way in hell I can handle her anywhere near the delivery room. Plus if I go into labor she'll totally panic which will only panic me more.  She physical can't help if I need help getting in the car or even picking up my suitcase to go. 
My husband and I where discussing what to do if I go into labor during the day. I don't want him stressing to get home and get me then take me to the hospital, just going straight to the hospital would be less stressful. 
Should  we ask fellow friends to sit with me during the day? Should I just ride along with him while he works? (I do this occasionally) Should I just have a few people I can call that can drop everything and get me to the hospital?   A couple cousins offered assistance about coming to be with me but I need to book flights. But most have a couple kids so it won't be easy for them to come. Whoever is with me I'll be picky because they will be with me during labor till my husband comes. 
Hospital is less than 10 minutes away. I live in a fairly small city. I'm just curious what others are planning on doing?

I'd just call him to come home when you think labor is starting. One hour away max plus a ten minute drive isn't much.

Labor usually takes a long time for first time moms. You will have plenty of time to call him home and get to the hospital safely.

For a first timer it’s unlikely that you will go into labor and be ready to deliver within an hour so I think you’re fine to let him work. Personally, it never occurred to me to have someone babysit me during the day in the last days of my pregnancy. As long as he’s got his phone on, you’ve got your bag packed and with you, and the number of a cab company in case you need it, I think you’ll be fine

No I don't think that's necessarily something you need to do. Remember labor takes a long time, especially for ftms and he isn't that far away. Worst case scenario you call an ambulance and he meets you there. More than likely though he will be with you before any real action happens.

I live across the country from EVERYONE in my support system and I’m not even sure if my SO or mom will be out here when I go into labor. I’m just winging it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve got all sorts of logistics figured out for my 4 year old and dog but I guess we’ll just see how it goes. Worst case I can ask a coworker or neighbor to drive me (neighbors have already offered...I’m sure I could find a coworker to do it if need be) 
Thankful the hospital is barely ten mins away from my home and work so I figure honestly I can call an Uber or drive myself if I have to. I’ll come back here to update you once it happens but I really don’t think you need someone to babysit you in case you go into labor. Just make sure your phone is charged and your bag is packed :)

Theres three stages of labor...early labor ...active and then transition...you will have lots of time...let him work he will have time to get to you. You dont need anyone really around. My boyfriend works half hour away i went into early labor first time and told him to stay at work for a couple more hours then he came home ,

If it was me I would not have anyone come stay with me. As a first-time mom you’re very likely to go a week or more overdue. You don’t want someone staying with you just waiting and waiting for you to go into labor then you’re going to feel more anxious. Just my opinion. just call your hubby when you start labor, most likely it’ll be a few hours of you laboring at home until you even go to the hospital.

No need. My OB knew that I was at least an hour (with no traffic) from the hospital & that my husband worked at least an hour (with no traffic) from our home, & she was not concerned. She enough, I had plenty of time for him to come home & for us to get to the hospital when I was in labor. After all, worst case you can call a cab or ambulance, so there's really no cause to worry.

I have this thought but this is My third pregnancy and my labor has gotten short. I pushed for less than ten minutes with my last birth. I wouldn't be surprised if I had this kid at home because the hospital is 15 miles away.

Chances are it’s going to be gradual and you will have enough time to ask hubs to come get you to bring you to the hospital. You can give him a heads up if you are starting labor and chances are you won’t be much further along in an hour. Even if your water breaks you do not need to fly out the door. If there is an emergency that is what ambulances are for so worst case you are 20 minutes out. I think having someone with you would be awesome if they can spare that time, but it’s definitely not necessary.
