How long until positive test?

Question

I’ve got 5 days until my period is supposed to start. I tested today, not exactly with first morning urine. It was negative 😒 How long until you got a positive? 😞 I’m starting to think I’ll just get my period on it’s expected day. I feel like I should have a faint positive if I was.

Wait until you’re late. It doesn’t benefit you in any way to know you’re pregnant before you miss your period. The companies that make these early tests are basically monetizing your anxiety. It’s so stressful to test and test every month. You’ll make yourself crazy. What’s worse is you could pick up on a chemical pregnancy that you would have never known about, did nothing to cause, and couldn’t have done anything to prevent!
My journey to conceive became a lot less stressful once I stopped testing early. Learn your luteal phase (time between when you ovulate and when you get your period). This will always stay constant no matter how long your cycles are. 
After you become pregnant, there’s even more waiting and worrying and wondering. Most doctors won’t even see you until you are 8 weeks! I went to my doctor at 6 weeks, all they could see was a gestational sac and yolk. The nurses even made a comment to me like “this is the problem when you know too early that you’re pregnant! It’s so stressful waiting until you can see the heartbeat.”
So stop stressing yourself out testing early and symptom spotting. Just know that it WILL happen, it just takes time. There are so many factors that have to be aligned just right in order to conceive. So it’s up to you whether this process is hopeful and strengthens your bond with your partner...or you can make it stressful and heartbreaking for both of you.
