to get the epidural or to not get it???

Okay so I have been up in the air about the epidural and just want to know everyone's opinions and if it worked for you or if you had any complications after

I’ve had two natural births and plan on this one being natural too. 
I feel our bodies are made to do this..
Plus I liked the fact I was up immediately after and walking to go and get into the bath :) literally no issues and felt great being able to get up and about and get back to normal.

Say you want it (even if you don’t) so they are prepared to bring it to you. I had a natural birth and was adamant on it, but told them I wanted it beforehand so they were ready if I couldn’t take it. Natural was the best choice I made and I would do it all over again!

You won’t know that answer regardless of anyone’s opinions until you’re in active labor. I had it with my first 2 and did it natural with my 3rd. It’s hard. It’s painful as hell and all but unbearable. It made me sick, make me cry, scream, and just in agonizing pain. BUT it was worth it when I had my baby placed on my chest.

Decide when you’re in labor. I originally didn’t want it, but I was in labor so long, over 40 hours, that after the first 30 I decided to try it. I had no complications from it. I even got some sleep before pushing began so it worked out for the best.

I’m no hero so for all 3 births I had an epidural. The last didn’t take well and I felt everything.

That’s how I felt with my pregnancy because it’s so hard to know what to expect!  For me, I chose an epidural with my first after labor started and I discovered what back labor was all about. I couldn’t even feel the contractions in my abdomen, my back and spine were in such pain. Luckily I had a wonderful nurse who told me about her experience with three children. She had back labor with all three and said it was so excruciating, it took her until child number 3 before she could prepare herself for a natural birth. I took her advice and went with the epidural and am glad I did! I plan to do the same with baby number 2... wait to see if I have back labor and decide from there. :)

My friend asked her anesthesiologist,  they said about 90% of people end up having one. Unless you have some strong feelings about natural birth I'd have it ready in case you want it. That way you dont get to where its unbearable and they cant give it to you since its not ready.  Either way, don't worry what other people think- you're pushing out a human, thats amazing already no matter how you choose to do it!

I got it and don’t regret it. I wouldn’t have been able to make it through without it. No complications and felt nothing below my diaphragm. I’ll be getting it again this time around.

I had an epidural with my first and am planning on having one again. It was the best! I was even able to sleep for a couple of hours before pushing. Didn’t experience much in the way of side effects. Once the contractions really started, it was unbearable for me!!
