Pain during sex after period

Anyone else experience pain when having sex the first time after their period? My other half and I had sex the other night a few days after my period ended and it hurt. This isn't the first time it's happened. This is I believe the 3rd time it's happened after my period. the first time was pretty bad but the second time had me bawling my eyes out and kept me home from work and hardly able to take care of my kiddo the next day. I was pretty much bedridden the next day. Any movement put me in tears. Getting up took anywhere from 5-10 mins. This last time wasn't horrible but it was enough to turn me off and end sexy time for us.
