While in labor do you guys prefer doctor or midwifes & why ?

To be honest when your in labour your not bothered who’s in the room  or who’s looking down below!

I wanted a midwife because they don’t push for epidurals and pain meds as much. Unfortunately for me, I needed a CS with my first. So that wasn’t an option. For my second, I gave birth at 32&3 so even though my midwife delivered, there was an OB right next to her (and an entire NICU team in the room). But I was still able to do a natural, Med free birth! I’m hoping this time around I can stick with a midwife and have another med free birth.

I will be using an OB, but I will be having a scheduled c-section, so I don’t think there’s even an option. That being said, I don’t feel pressure for anything, and trust and love my OB. She is great for both mind and body, and I never feel like she is pushy. I’ve also heard great things about midwives. I would definitely suggest a hospital birth, but that’s because I had a birth that would not have ended well had I not had medical interventions. I have no interest in a doula, however, because I am not a fan of people helping me through physical pain....I like to be left alone for the most part, and feel supported enough by my husband and mother. If you don’t have a support person you trust, I would definitely look into a doula for some added support. Birth is hard!

Midwife for sure. I've done a doctor twice and a midwife twice. Midwives are trained in everything pregnancy and birth. It's natural progression and concerns. They have seen tons of live births and have more experience in its normalcy. Doctors are trained medically. They try to get them to witness one live birth during their schooling, but it isnt always possible or it's heavily intervened. A midwife feels like an extension of  family. The relationship formed can be quite different and I felt like I had a great family doctor with the first two children.

everyone I've ever heard answer this question says midwife. this is my 4th and last pregnancy and I'm using a midwife. I will probably end up with an o.b. as well due to all The complications

Depends on what you are wanting in your labor. First time I went with an OB I’m going w a midwife this time since I am hoping to do it all natural. I feel midwifes are more about believing in you and encouragement where doctors are great if something goes wrong. If you’re low risk I’d always opt midwife

I'm curious about this too! Pregnant with my first and I currently plan to deliver with my OBGYN but I've heard great things about midwives and doulas.
