beer to encourage labor??

so at my appointment today my OB suggested i drink a bit of beer to help get things moving... has anyone heard of this or had it work for them??

That’s.. odd lol I wouldn’t personally drink any alcohol while pregnant and I’m surprised a doctor suggested it!

From what I heard from my midwife it actually does the opposite I remember her saying it causes the uterus to relax and it’s sometimes recommended for people who are in premature labor to slow things down. I’m not sure though she could be wrong!

I've hard that but I've also heard it does the opposite. I don't think there's enough information on it to tell if it does it doesn't. I wouldn't chance it.

I’ve actually had a doc tell me that if I ever encounter someone going into labor on a plane while in flight to give them a shot of whiskey because alcohol slows down that process.
