starting babyfood?

my pediatrician said to go ahead & start small amounts of baby food. my little one is only 4 months old. When did y'all start baby food?

My son was 6 months and sitting unassisted before we offered solids.

Wait until at least 6 months and they can sit unassisted. Look into baby led weaning

I asked today at my daughter's doc appt and she said they prefer to start babies around 4-6 months. when they're able to sit up unassisted and able to keep their head up. they also want to make sure their digestive track is mature enough for it. my daughter is only 2 months so she said by her 4month appt well see how she is and we might be able to start her on cereal

Our ped told us the same, but she also emphasized that it is NOT important. So we’ve been going off of his cues. 
We do one a week. We’ve tried avocado, and bananas so far. He doesn’t care for it. He’ll take like half a spoon then not want it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
The important thing is to go off of babies cues. Its not important for them to do solids yet. So if they dont, cool. If they do, cool. But don’t push it too much. They’ll let you know when they are ready

I started at four months but only small amounts. Too much and they’ll get constipated I also always breastfed after. Some women mix it with breast milk before hand
