Birth Story 💕

Brinley

On Friday night January 19th at 39 weeks I went to Labor and Delivery because my blood pressure was pretty high and I couldn’t get it to come down. I was kept overnight for monitoring but they got it down so I was sent home on Saturday. That following Monday, the 22nd I had my regular check up (39 weeks 5 days), at the office my BP was through the roof again (158/106) so my doctor decided he wanted to go ahead and send me to the hospital to start induction that night. 😳 They inserted the Cervidil around 6pm that night and said they would come in to check me the next morning and break my water. The Dr. came in around 7am the next morning and I was only dilated to 1cm but he broke my water anyways and we started the waiting game. Around 3pm we had a major scare when baby girl went into distress and they couldn’t pick up the heartbeat on the monitor, this only lasted a minute or so but felt like hours in that moment, I was so scared something was wrong with my baby. Because she wasn’t responding well to the Pitocin they stopped my IV drip to give her time to recover and we started back slowly about an hour later. 7pm rolled around and I was still only 3cm dilated, at this point it had been 12 hours since they broke my water, there was a good bit of Meconium in my fluid, and she had been in distress already so the doctor decided a C-Section was our safest option at this point. So at 9:21pm on January 23rd (2 hours & 19 minutes before her due date) Kinsley Farris Rogers finally made her grand entrance weighing 7lbs 11oz and 20.5 in long. 💓

The doctor told me the next day that after the baby was out, he found that I had a “hard spot” on my uterus which was preventing it from fully contracting. Therefore I would have never fully dilated to have her naturally. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Although my Labor/birthing process went nothing like I planned, I’m so glad our baby girl is finally here with us and we are so in love with her already!
