Bleeding & cramps

I am trying not to freak myself out but I am so scared to miscarry. This is my first pregnancy. I have had cramps and heavy bleeding for 2 days now that started out light pink, then turned brown (day 1) but is now red (day 2) I called the on call doctor and she said and ultra sound wouldn't show much since it's so early (I'm only 5 weeks) Anyone else experience these symptoms? If so, what was the outcome? Are the baby and I going to be okay? Please send prayers. Thanks.
