Making out help please

I haven’t kissed someone in like 4 months and I’m going out with this guy I really like tonight. I guess I’m just really nervous about kissing him because you can tell a lot in a kiss and whenever I have made out with anyone I always felt like I was doing it wrong because I still don’t know how to properly french kiss. I’m great at just lips but when it comes to tongue on tongue I don’t know how to do it right. So I always distract the person by just kissing their neck and then moving on to more but I feel like I should really learn to french kiss considering I’m 18. People always just say massage the other persons tonge with yours but what does hat even mean?? Please help. Anything you can say to help me I’d really appreciate. Thank you
