Crazy/ controlling mother and mother-in-law

So we told both our parents last week and both mothers were very excited. Today both started demanding to plan the baby shower as a right. The original plan was to have one party at our mutual friends house because its rather large, free, and this way everyone could come and enjoy the day. Now Both mothers are very emotional individuals and my SO and I️ feel very trapped. Either we let them plan the party/ parties or we stick to our guns and stay with the original plan. Either way it seems we’re screwed and this whole situation is becoming stressful and not happy at all.
