Baby toys

I have plenty of time to plan since baby is due in late June. Come the end of may (exactly a month before I’m due) we’re moving into a house, luckily it’s only ten minutes away from where we are now. The house has two living rooms and we are gonna turn the smaller one (about 12x15) into the baby play room/ gear room. We’ve registered and are gonna be getting the a few of the skip hop i teams there are more neutral with pops of color. However I keep thinking of baby and toddler toys. I HATE plastic baby toys, to me they seem cheaply made and I don’t want to worry about batteries all the time. That being said I also don’t want a room cluttered with toys that baby will only play with once or twice.

So my question is what are your top toy suggestions that are made of wood or cloth? Also I’d prefer not to spend $60 on a small wood block set that would cost me less then $10 to make.
