Dog breed recommendations?

Okay, so I don’t know where to post but I’m too excited so I’m asking here .😂
My hubby said I can pick a dog when we got a house and GUESS WHAT! We close next week! 
I would like a small breed dog and my boss totally supports office dogs so something that would do well in that type of setting (any judgy comments on taking dogs to work can be kept to yourself.)  I would love to rescue. 
Please let me know suggestions and thoughts. I’m so excited

Mutts are the best! You can find rescues for pure bred dogs if that’s your thing.
Go to the shelters and ask to walk some of the dogs. You can get to know the little dogs and see their personalities outside the cage.

I encourage a rescue.  Save a life.  Dogs in animal shelters can be such a blessing.  I also recommend a dog thats 1 or 2 years old because they typically come already house broken and knowing basic commands.  Check out petfinder.com .... Congratulations !!!!  🎉🎉🙌

Go to a pound and get a dog about a year/two years. Mutts are always very sweet and love attention, and if you get one from a pound you’re giving them a second chance. 
( I vote looking for a dachshund mix though, they’re so cute and cuddly )

If i get a smaller type breed in the future it’ll probably be a Staffordshire bull terrier cross (they have such a bad rep but they are so clever and loyal) or a type of spitz (just because they are cute AF) 
I currently have a golden retriever and I can’t ask for a better dog, shes so soft and everyone’s best friend but I prefer bigger dogs...

Peekapoos are great dogs. They are a pekinese and poodle mix. They do not shed and they are very lovable and loyal. Also, shipoos. They are a shitzu and a poodle. They also don’t shed and are as lovable and loyal.

Truthfully rescuing a dog is amazing, my first dog was from the spca or whatever its called. But you want to make sure you get a puppy so that you can influence  the way they behave in all aspects  (you cant teach an old dog nee tricks) but not only a puppy, but do some research on types of breeds and their traits, i can imagine youd want a friendly dog in the office and one who can be quiet or isnt too yappy . Good luck on your new furry friend though!!

Also, something I've found incredibly rewarding and beneficial is fostering first. I fostered two from the time they were 4 weeks so basically raised them myself and fell in love and adopted. It helps you get to know them really well and they can adjust to you before you make that life-long commitment! Shelters are always looking for foster homes, too!

All of my dogs are from shelters and are by far the best dogs I could've ever asked for. They're all lab mixes, and it's so fun to see the breeds they're mixed with come out in their personality. And they have nothing but love to give!

If you’re looking to rescue perhaps don’t get your heart set on any breed just yet. Visit the shelters, speak to the staff about your situation, they should be able to recommend which dogs would best suit you. Don’t rush into buying a pet, make sure you do all your research first! I grew up breeding dogs. I would recommend a schnauzer or poodle mix.  They will not shed and can be easily trained with attention and consistency.  They can be small enough to travel easily but not soo small that they cannot be housetrained. Both breeds are very intelligent.

Whatever dog you get i recommend crate training and leash training.  Consistency is key, a routine is very important.
