My period schedule is wack

Okay I need help, last year I went 6 months without my period. I didn’t start January of this year, and I probably won’t start this month either. I have been getting my period for three years now how is my schedule not straightened out yet? I can’t be pregnant either because I am still a virgin. I heard my friend saying that her mom made her take birth control to fix her period schedule, but I don’t know if it works! Also my mom is really religious like this one time she got mad at me for trying to use a tampon! I can’t just ask her for birth control, the things she will think! Is there any other way to get my period schedule fixed? I just want to feel normal again and not have to worry if or not I will have my period.
