How old would you let your daughter (hypothetical or not) date?

My friend was telling me all about her boyfriend and I guess I was surprised since she is 2 years younger then me... anyways what do you guys think? 🤔🤔🤔

So most people will vote 16-18 but will not keep it, if you have a set age for her you should keep the promise to her. My dad didn’t allow me to date till I was 16 which for me personally I didn’t see necessary. Now for a friend of mine she saw dating but in a non innocent way, not for guy friends you enjoy spending time with but as a sexual relief and not a relationship. Now we grew up in different homes too. I didn’t see relationship (boyfriends) and sexual pleasure to be combined until 16. Now she was way more into sexual pleasure and now she is kinda ruined in a way. If I was raising both of us at the same time I would’ve given myself an earlier age and her a older age. I saw dating as an innocent thing and would’ve learned from it. She has sex and gotten mouth diseases, in a way is viewed as easy. While I haven’t had any diseases, no sex (not until I find someone I love) and viewed as innocent.

I never really had an age set for me. I had a boyfriend in middle school and my first kiss. At 14 I had sex for the first time. (It was not a constant things. The next time I had sex after that was 15, about 6 months later. The time after that was 9 or 10 months later) it all depends on maturity. Now I’ve had sex regularly since 16 but it was with the third guy I was with and I’m still with him today. I feel like I’m a way I was able to learn from that, and I feel as if that one time when we were fifteen (we didn’t start actually dating until 16) kicked off our like for each other. However, it would have certainly been nice if i had waited. Just know that a boyfriend for a while can come with sex but it may not. It doesn’t matter too much what age the parent gives and really depends on the person. A teenager is going to do what they want because we all feel older and more mature than we actually are at the time. If the parents are strict enough and teach enough and are open with their kids, the kids may wait longer and learn younger the maturity that it takes. Innocent relationships I middle school and elementary school are fine to me though. Mostly because at that time sex is such a mysterious thing that it definitely won’t happen. Also, the relationship might last a month which is the equivalent of about two year relationships at 19-20

I think that when your young dating is learning about yourself in a sense. It allows you to figure out your emotions and learn how to develop different kinds of relationships. My “first boyfriend” was in 5th grade and I was scared to hold his hand and we went on dates with one of our parents. Dating when your young isn’t about romance and intimacy but it helps you to start understanding those ideas in a different way.

I started dating at age 15. I have always been more mature for my age so my parents let me date earlier than they wanted to (age 16 was when they wanted me to). I had sex a year later with the same guy at age 16. Now I'm almost 18 and I'm still with the same guy ❤ If your daughter is mature and you trust her and have open conversation about this, she will thank you for it! I can't tell you how many times I've thanked my parents for letting me date my boyfriend early because he is my best friend and I love him!!
