Though there's no confirmed medical evidence showing any link between marijuana use and birth defects, I wouldn't risk it. I used to smoke about once a week prior to getting pregnant. I was referred by my ob/Gyn to a pregnancy risk assessment councler (due to medications I'm taking for bipolar disorder and anxiety) and she said that if I needed marijuana for my anxiety it was something that could be managed. I haven't smoked since I got pregnant (I'm 17wks) because my issues are well managed on my medication, but it sounded like it wasn't something they were terribly worried about. Not saying you should, but if you smoked once or twice before you realized you were pregnant, I wouldn't panic.

We don’t know enough about marijuana in pregnancy yet simply because it has been too difficult for us to study prior to more legalization (however still difficult since considered Category I narcotic at national level), but in the past year some new research has come out. If you don’t have a scientific background it can be hard to understand but you can find any scientific article on the website: Pubmed.org. Just search your topic (like “pregnancy cannabis” or peripartum cannabis”). Then take it to your OB and ask what it means. The most recent study I saw showed that CBD can cause problems with migration of cells during very early migration (weeks after fertilization). It will take a long time before we know more. Doesn’t mean you should or shouldn’t in your circumstance - just have an honest conversation with your doctor. Best wishes to everyone!

Humans have an endocannabinoid system in their brains. These systems are not fully developed until around 25 years of age. Using any form of cannabis can severely impact the development of this system, especially, in fetuses. Please do not use cannabis while pregnant. You will do so much damage to your baby’s brain that will impact them for the rest of their life.

Weed is great but not smoking it while preggo. Smoking anything preggo is bad so try to stick to edibles if you need it.

I personally wouldn’t but i know a lot of women/my friend who have/still do and the babies turned out fine, I’ve heard it slows growth in the womb, but just depends on the woman and her health 🤷🏼‍♀️
