Is it normal that my doctor won’t do an ultrasound? He said he won’t do it until I’m 19 weeks pregnant.

Yes. Some insurance companies will only cover the 20 week anatomy scan, which would make sense for you at 19 weeks. Unless you’re high risk, you don’t need multiple ultrasounds.

I thought they usually did a dating ultrasound to determine how far along you are 😕

I had one at 8 weeks and my next is at 20w. Ask your doctor's office. Even if insurance won't cover more you should be able to get more if you're ok paying out of pocket for them.

I thought at least 2 were done. A dating and/or first trimester scan and then an anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks.

That’s what I thought. He said it wasn’t necessary til I’m 20 weeks. He checked me and said that I was ranging from 8-9 weeks but wasn’t sure until I had an ultrasound.
