Is it okay?

Is it okay to have baby sleep in a rock n play, swing for a little while? We have a crib in her nursery but we prefer her to be with us for the first few months and we have a baby swing in our room.

Guidelines say all babies should sleep on their backs on a flat surface.... HOWEVER... the best advice I ever received was do whatever keeps everyone sane lol my son refused to sleep on his back flat because he had such bad gas. If he wasn’t sleeping then no one was sleeping, which made us all miserable. the lack of sleep made us more careless to where worse things could have happened, so when he got the rock n play and he slept beautifully in that we used it everyday until he was about 3 months and his gas calmed down.  We always took as much safety measures as we could, but sometimes you have to say screw the guidelines.

The only place 2 out of 3 of my friends kids would even sleep is the swing it’s fine if your right there . Your going to get many many different opinion on this topic! Some people will lash out , but it’s important for momma to get sleep and baby so you can take care of one another probably so do what u need to in order for u babe to sleep and what u as the mother feels is best 💕

It’s best for baby to do most of his/her sleeping on a flat surface. But for less than 2hours a swing/car seat or even a beanbag is ok for naps. I know how sleep deprived you can get when baby doesn’t sleep very well but it’s better to be sleep deprived than for baby to suffer deformities in his/her back or neck.

I wouldn't recommend that if you will be sleeping too. napping isn't so bad but I wouldnt all night.

It was the only way we could get our little one to sleep at night.  She never liked the bassinet and there were some nights I needed my bed to myself.  Does yours recline?  Ours did so she couldnt slip out.

im pretty sure its not safe to let baby sleep in a swing for more than a nap. but I'm not 100%

Safe sleep guidelines (and physical development) advise against using a swing, car seat, bouncer or rock n play for overnight sleep. Baby should sleep flat on the back in a firm, designated sleeping area such as a crib, bassinet, or co sleeper. Sleeping in a swing is connected to airway obstruction, and sleeping in other baby gear has been linked to physical disorders of the head and neck, such as torticollis and plagiocephaly (flat head).

my son sleeps in his Rock n Play in the living room for every nap. but i am always up and awake. if I plan on sleeping thru his naps we both go to the bedroom. I have our bed set up to follow the breastsleeping guidelines - the safe sleep 7. so he's always supervised during naps in the rock n play.
