Crying before a nap or bedtime

So my four month old has been clingy lately I love hay he loves being with me and his daddy all the tim but during nap and bedtime he cries my question is should I let him cry or how do u handle it I’m lookinf for advice he is on a sleep schedule for bedtime it’s between 7:30-9:00pm
