I think it depends a lot on the specific kid! Some movie theaters have special “mommy & me” viewings so basically everyone’s aware there’s a good possibly there will be crying/talking/running around lol

I took my baby at 6 months old. It was night time, there were only 4 families there (it was a kid movie showing at 10 pm). she nursed and slept all the way through. Had she woken up or made a fuss, I was willing to leave so she didn’t disturb anyone. 
I think as long as you’re considerate to others and know that your kid can handle it well, I don’t think there should be an age limit

I think when they can sit quietly for the duration of the film,  and not go to the bathroom. its more about development than numbers. used to work in a theatre during college, parents want to enjoy a movie, not pay $12 to tell their child to hush and go to the bathroom 3 times.

We took our daughter for the first time this year right before she turned 3 (she’s a little advanced for her age so we thought we would try it about 3 weeks before her birthday). We figured she would be okay because she can generally sit through a kids movie at home and stay focused. She did pretty well, but did become fidgety and antsy after about the hour mark, even after bribing her with popcorn ☺️ She did really well overall, but I think we’ll wait until she’s 4 before we try again.

I honestly think it depends on the child .. if they know when to be quiet and understands not to talk in a movie . And isn’t scared of the loud noises from the speakers .. I believe o started going to the movies at age of 3 by then I knew to be quiet and watch the movie and wasn’t scared of how loud the speakers are .. now I find it hard to go to the moves because I have sensitive hears now and they loud speakers hurt my ears

We took our infant to a drive-in over summer. It was easy to pop in our car to settle him or nurse him to sleep, it is more family friendly. An indoor movie it really depends on the child. Will they sit quietly the whole time? I do not think my son would, and I do not want to waste my money and other viewers money battling a toddler in the theater. If it was a showing specific to bringing a child like another commenter said then that is different.
