So my friends baby daddy hasn't been around since she became pregnant with their daughter. Her daughter is now four and she wants to know if there is an age limit to where the court system will tell him tough shit basically on getting custody or visitation rights?

If he can probe he has paid any money or anything, theres jo case for abandonment. If she can prove he hasnt visited, asked to visit, or contributed money or items to her care, she may have a case for abandonment. It all varies depending on where you live. But shes going to have to go to the courts and file for his rights to be terminated due to abandonment

Not in CA. She needs to actually go to court and handle it. If he’s paying child support technically that’s considered being involved.

There is a statue for “abandonment” , at least here in Texas there is. However other than that, not one on “tough shit” unless you go thru the court process to have his rights removed. Which the case for abandonment may very well be able to be used 👌🏼
