I had no clue. In fact, I’m a fraternal twin but only because my mom got fertility help. So I always knew I’d never have my own twins because fraternal twins do not run in our family. So from at least ago 20 or so when I understood that, I never once considered the possibility of twins. People would just assume because I was a twin that maybe one day I’d have my own. I laughed it off and always explained that no, I’d never have twins myself. 
Cut to age 34 and my husband and I had been married about a year and a half. I started using Glow to track my cycle and we naturally conceived in 6 weeks. A huge surprise because I imagined it could take more like 6-8 months! I didn’t even feel fertile and wasn’t sure I’d get pregnant at all. (I think I have poor instincts?) ha. 
After the shock of discovering I was pregnant, I felt amazing. Almost no symptoms at all. I had a blood test to confirm pregnancy and then at 10 weeks I went for my first ultrasound. My husband was traveling for work but I was ok to go alone. Just wanted to hear that heartbeat. 
My ultrasound was early, like 8am. So I remember not sleeping well and in the morning as I showered a thought that had NOT remotely popped in my head for my whole life came up. I stopped shampooing my hair for a second and paused and thought, “what if it’s twins?” I had this weird feeling. I laughed to myself knowing it wasn’t possible and went off to the doctor. 
Then an hour later - it was. I could barely believe it. To be frank, twins were never a dream of mine. My own twin sister and I are close but she struggles with mental illness and drug abuse problems. Always has. And twins are at a higher risk for depression, eating disorders, etc. I just didn’t want to have twins that were like me and my sister. It has never been this magical, healthy relationship. I was sad but also excited. The sadness wore off over the weekend and now I’m determined to make sure my girls get the love and support they need that perhaps my sister was lacking. 
My girls are also identical, so I feel better that they’re a different twin type and that they’re more likely to thrive together instead of apart. I’m excited for the challenge and now (30 weeks) we are so excited to meet them. I couldn’t imagine it NOT being twins now. It’s already the best gift. 
Btw: right after the exam when I found out, my husband texted me, “everything ok?” And I was so shocked. I had a quick follow up with a doctor to discuss the results so I couldn’t call him just yet. From the waiting room I typed, “MORE than ok!” And he knew. I wasn’t sure he’d get it, but he did. He’s been so excited, too. He’s going to be an incredible father. These are lucky girls.

We are pregnant with twins (spontaneous, not in our family or ivf), and I “had a feeling” the day after we tested that it was twins. I also felt like I could be feeling implantation pains on both sides, but with this being my first pregnancy, of course wasn’t sure. I didn’t tell my hubs right away, but did write it in my pregnancy journal. Sure enough, when we went to the dr for our first ultrasound 2 weeks later, there they were! I couldn’t believe it!!

I wouldn’t say I knew, but looking back, I was definitely more sick and tired than before. I just thought I was more tired bc I’m taking care of a two year old this time. But I did keep thinking about how I had just had a miscarriage, turned 35, breastfeeding, blah blah blah. Didn’t “know” it would be twins, but it crossed my mind.😂

I def has a strong feeling it was multiples. My HCG levels were so much higher than anyone i knew who went thru IUI. I was also so sick from the very start.

I’m having identical (Mo/Di) Twins. We had no idea. I’ve had a lot less symptoms than I did with my Singleton. I did show sooner, but I think that’s more so because it’s my second pregnancy

I’m pregnant with baby no 6 been told the more pregnancies u have the more likely
My mum had twins 5th pregnancy non identical 
I have been super exhausted 
I’ve read your 9 times more likely to get twins if conceive while breast feeding 
Also if you have not long given birth ( my daughter is 6 month old) 
If your over 30 (I’m 34)
I seen a medium that described my life to a tea the man I was going to meet even b4 i met him was going to be a fireman was going to get married on a beach in Scotland we did said about my dads death and how he died and the age of him (46) then said you lost your grandfather 6 weeks later didn’t you indeed I did then he said he could see a mc I had one 2016 then could see a baby then multiples I’ve had my daughter now scared my midwife thinks I could be carrying twins cause I’m exhausted and looking bigger but is that cause I have not long stretches lots of people say pregnant with twins your constantly ill but I know 4 people with twins and not one of them were sick
