Breastfeeding 🤱🏾 Still get the enfamil??

I plan on breastfeeding my kid, and I’m enrolled in my local WIC program which is super helpful. When the baby is born they give you enfamil. I don’t feel like I would need the formula but my mom insists I get it. I think I will and probably give it to women in need. I know it’s expensive in stores here $18 a can.

It’s nice to have. When I had my son I didn’t have formula in the house. I caved after two days because my milk took forever to come in & he was so hungry & constantly on my boob. You do you girl good luck 🍀

You are only allowed let’s say 50 cans of formula for the year. I breastfeed my twins but I also started back working, so what I do is I only request 2 cans of formula a month instead of the 14 I would get for my twins and I use this as a just Incase we run out of breast milk while I’m at work. And i still receive all of the other foods

I think that might be illegal? If the government is giving you something, even if you mean well by donating it, it’s meant for YOU, not to be given away. Breastfeed like you plan, if someone else is in need, they can apply for WIC as well. A lot churches provider donated formula as well.

You don’t have to get the formula and you can get a larger food package for yourself.  Nothing is set in stone, and you can always request formula at your next visit.  Great job on your breastfeeding journey!

I don’t think you’re allowed to get the full amount of formula and breastfeed. It’s usually if you breastfeed, you get extra food to support your supply. And if you formula feed, you get a certain number of cans. I think you should talk to your WIC office and ask about supplementing. I think they’d give you more food and a few cans. That way you have formula just in case.

You might talk with you WIC person. In the state I live in, you can supplement with formula and still breastfeed. You just have to let your WIC person know. It means you get some formula and some food. What they give you may be less than normal.  I’m seeing that it may be different in each state but it is worth a shot.

I'm on WIC too, idk if it is different by state but for ours they told us you either get formula OR extra food. Reasoning is you get extra calories for breastfeeding, but you don't need it if you are formula feeding. So for me, unless breastfeeding doesn't work out, don't get the formula if it's the same for you
