So, I’m a hairstylist.. a well rounded one at that. I do everything from the basics ; cuts, color to every hair extension style, henna, waxing, men’s clipper cuts. Etc.

I graduated 2 years ago but have been doing hair all my life, my mom was also a hairstylist. When I started beauty school two years ago I moved from Michigan to Illinois, getting out of school I was so being that I was new to the area and didn’t know anyone I was looking for something with a consistent walk-in clientele, somewhere I’m able to keep up on my cut color and facial waxing skills, and I wanted to be REALLY good at men’s cuts and fades! I chose Supercuts. The name sounds very corny and no one really thinks highly of a Supercuts. I gave myself 1 year to work there, the major goal was to exceed a men’s hair cut in under 15 min and being able to fade and 80% of the walk ins were men. For the first like 6 months I didn’t even want people knowing I worked at a Supercuts and when I did finally start telling people their like “WHAT your so good why did you settle for Supercuts” lol. Long story short I’ve been there for 1 1/2 years. Everything was good until we got a new manager, she favored me because I was bringing in most of the clients ($) and I did basically everything for that salon so she made me assistant manager. And man did she use that to her advantage... she would make me work ALL weekend every weekend open to close so she could have off. She was never there so when things were missing or she forgot to order inventory everyone blamed me, basically everything she did wrong everyone confronted me about because she was never there! She would call me on my days off to drop everything i was doing to JUMP and QUICKLY run to a store and grab anything she forgot to order.... so we had a new girl start about a month ago who supposedly another stylist of ours (Teresa) worked with her at a previous salon and had her as her manager and “everyone hated her and quit”. TELL ME WHYYYY my boss decided to quit 2 weeks after hiring this girl and made her manager. Her, the owner and the new girl had a meeting that I wasn’t informed about and made her manager. The day they did that Teresa quit. Everyone loved the new girl but once she got that position she turned into a control freak. She talks to you so belittling like she’s talking to a group of kindergarten students. She comes to work late, leaves when she wants, flirts with clients and gives them her number, denied taking a Hindu client because she “didn’t believe in their religion” this lady is a monster. She doesn’t know how to do ANYTHING so I still ended up doing her work, like making the schedule, picking up supplies we needed. It drove me insane. To the point I called the owner to tell him, now I tolerated a WHOLE LOT with the last manager and didn’t tell the owner anything. But when I told him about the new one he said “just avoid it and focus on my job” and when I asked him why I didn’t get the position he LAUGHED and said it’s because she’s had management experience. I couldn’t believe it.... the next day she calls at 8am about some BULLSHIT asking why I told so and so whatever. I’m like why are you calling me so early about petty ass drama. So minor it was literally not even worth a phone call and for her to call me so early I was already irritated, she also called twice in a row AND texted me saying “I’m calling you please answer”. And she continued to use phrases like “that is not appropriate assistant manager behavior and I’m here to correct you... do you understand?” I was like why do you feel the need to talk down to people like I’m a child I’m GROWN!.... she said “well you need to act like it” omg I lost it.... I said “well LAURA you don’t have an assistant manager anymore I quit!”. She’s only been manager for 2 weeks and so far THREE stylist have left because of her so now they’re left with 3 stylist and one who just started last week who takes an hour on each hair cut🤣 and the other one doesn’t even have her license!! A stylist there told me SO many people have come to the salon for me and walked out when they were told that I quit. This feels GREAT! Lol but so far it’s been 4 days and now I’m trying to figure out what my next step is but have been sooo tired and unmotivated with this pregnancy. I want to start working from home but don’t know what to do. And I was thinking about getting into doing lash extensions but it’s $1000 for a class and I’m unemployed so idk. Options are endless but this crappy winter weather and these pregnancy hormones are slowing me down ☹️ I’ve never felt so lazy in my life!!! My boyfriend says if I don’t want to work I don’t have to but I’m not even that type of person. I have a baby coming, getting money is my number 1 priority!!
