Before having kids is it important to live your life?

I want to live, I want to travel! shoot I want to move however I'm married and he doesn't seem to want the same things. where we live jobs are hard to come by so we don't make much so it makes traveling hard. I feel like if we move somewhere with a better job selection/ better cost of living we could have fun before having babies. I've talked to him about it but it's like he doesn't believe that I really want to 😦 he has family here I don't and it sucks.

I think it’s more important to some people than it is to others, I for one, am really glad that I spent my 20’s traveling, and carefree. But it’s not for everyone.. I mean I’m now 38 with a one year old and pregnant with number two.. however if I had started earlier I probably would have waited a few more years before having number two.

sounds like you should have talked about this before you guys get married. hopefully you can both compromise. I will have a life whether I have kids or not. having kids is a choice not inevitable

you are getting good advice and varied opinions here but I think your issue is less travelling vs having babies now and more about your partner seemingly not wanting the same things as you. Just as my husband and I have done several things before having kids and some others chose to wait and do them later , I know a lot of men and women who don't want to travel or do these things at all. and your partner seems to fall into that category. think hard before settling down with this person .you may never get to realise your dreams at all.

Once you have kids you don't have as much time for adult fun so do it while you can. The last thing you want is to feel like you missed out on something and end up resenting your husband or any future kids. Talk to your husband and tell him how important this is to you. Is this a deal breaker or can you find a compromise?

My parents had horrible jobs before I was born and wasn't able to travel till I was around 6m old and they took me on every trip and they said they couldn't imagine the trips being better without me (yes I know that's just what parents say) but I personally want to travel with my future child and explore with them yes me and my fiance have traveled some but he's just starting his manager job! So we'll be able to travel more but we'll most likely be putting the extra money on a house and savings for a baby one day 💗

You can totally make traveling work on a tight budget! That's the only way I've traveled so far and I've been to tons of places. Read up on some budget travel blogs, get skyscanner and figure out how it works. Go to lesser traveled places as they'll be cheaper (Cambodia instead of Thailand, for example). I am so happy that I focused on myself so much before starting a family. I've grown and learned so much about myself that I think it has made me a better person. I wouldn't do it any other way.

It's very important to us!! We want to married in the next year or so (about age 24) but we want to wait to start a family until about 30. We want a few years to enjoy ourselves, travel, learn new skills, see the world, etc!

We’re pregnant with our first and I can’t tell you how happy I am that we had almost ten years of doing whatever we wanted. We’ve done a ton of travelling, got an education, we’ve taken risks at work, we have spent time cultivating our interests, putting together a home we love. Moving away from family and making more money to live and travel is totally worth it. There’s lots of time for babies, enjoy having no responsibilities and just taking care of yourselves and each other.
