Getting babies ears pierced?

My daughter is a little over 2 months old, and I was thinking of getting her ears pierced later on in time. Not any time soon of course, if I decided to do it, it’d be around when she’s 9/10 Months.. I know some people are against getting their babies ears pierced, so I would prefer not to hear negative replies! But to the mommas who HAVE gotten her babies ears pierced; how old was your baby? What was the healing process like for a baby? And do you wish you would had gotten them pierced when they were younger/older than when you decided to get them done?

As someone who works in the body modification industry I feel the need to say this, not as anything negative but only to inform. Please be aware that piercing ‘guns’ used at mall jewelry shops are not properly sterilized for pathogens and are not safe. Swabbing a surface with alcohol does not kill things like hepatitis. Baby does not yet have an immune system to help fight off any infection and creating an open wound on your baby can be problematic. Piercing guns shove dull earring studs through earlobes as quickly as possible. This can cause scar tissue in baby’s ears. The jewelry used to do this is not sterile or autoclaved, which can also pose possible health risks, especially to a child with a developing immune system. Baby also cannot keep her hands away from her ears and touching a fresh piercing can cause irritation and impede healing. Finally, ears grow and what may be the center of the lobe at 6 or 9 months is not where the center will be at 6 years or 15 or 20years old. Hope this information helps with any decisions regarding this issue.

If you do it, going along with an above post, Go to a well respected  Piercing Parlor often in same place as tattoo shop. They have better cleanliness, are way more trained, and use a hollow needle to pierce versus piercing gun which helps with healing. (This is good advice for any piercing at any age).   These people take pride in their skills, more than a quick trained employee at Claires.

Just had my baby’s pierced at her 6 month appointment at the pediatrician office. It’s now been 3 weeks and they’re healing fine and she has no clue.

I had my ears pierced when I was about 3 months old according to my mom. Of course I don’t remember anything lol. If I have a girl I’ll probably do it around the same time
