Has anyone been induced at 37 weeks?

I am so scared... I’m 33 weeks and my consultant is planning to induce me at 37 as my baby is small and she believes it is the flow of oxygen and nutrients through my umbilical cord not being enough to help my baby grow.. I am worried about my baby and how she will be after I’ve given birth whether she will be in intensive care, whether I can breast feed her, hold her straight away... if there’s anyone who has been induced or given birth at 37 weeks could you tell me how it was for you and show me a pic of your beautiful babies? Anything to put my mind at rest really

I was induced before 37 weeks due to preeclampsia and a small baby. Everything went really great. I could breastfeed and hold him immediately and no extra care was needed. We stayed in the hospital for a week, only to make sure he was gaining weight properly and also to make sure my preeclampsia went away. He's still a small baby (turning one soon), but he's been very healthy and has kept up with all developmental milestones.

This may help or may not but my I had chorioamnionitis when I was pregnant and my waters broke at 32 weeks. My baby had to be treated for sepsis due to the infection I had, he needed some help breathing at first, he had jaundice which was expected so needed phototherapy, was born with no suckling reflex so was tube fed, and had to have caffeine to develop his lungs. To take him home 😁 he’d over come all of those problems in that time! They are so incredibly tough, and although it was the longest few weeks of my life it is like a distant memory now. Don’t worry! That was my baby at 32 weeks and lots of baby’s are born even earlier. He’s now 4 month old I will show you the pics of then and now. Even if your baby is not quite as developed as a typical 37 weeker the professionals know exactly what to do and what to expect, they are amazing :) good luck with everything, chances are your baby will be a happy healthy full term baby. they explained to us in special care how the weight is irrelevant it’s the development that’s important

You and your princess will be just fine. My baby boy was born at 37w2d and was perfect as can be. Girls lungs mature faster than boys too! Don’t worry about a thing! It’ll all be okay. Here’s a pic of my perfect boy at 7lbs and 21in when he was born.

I was induced at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia. I wasn’t able to hold her for 30 hours, and we had no trouble bonding even with the late start. Baby was fully developed but we ended up in the NICU for 5 days since she was really small and jaundice. As scary as the NICU is, it was actually pretty amazing to have around the clock care and tons of professionals helping. I felt way more confident taking her home after our 5 day intensive parenting training in the NICU! Best of luck to you!

I was induced at 37 weeks and a couple of days, baby was 7 lbs and healthy. We both went home 2 days later with no nicu time at all. I'm sure baby will be fine...

At 37 weeks it's highly likely everything will be fine, especially since they'll likely give you a steroid before, but yes there is a chance of lungs being under developed. But given your Dr's findings it sounds like the safest way to go.
