Update- getting induced: Membrane sweep @ 40 weeks +1
FINALLY was able to get a membrane sweep.
At 38 weeks I was 0 cm dilated. No sweep.
39 weeks +1 day 0 cm dilated, still couldn’t get a sweep done.
Today, at 40 weeks + 1 (today) I was finger tip dilated and FINALLY able to get a sweep done.
Really hope this does something!
I know most women say it doesn’t hurt. MINE HURT LIKE HELL. Like I was crying, holding on to my husband for dear life, and couldn’t keep my legs in the stirrups. She stopped midway but I asked her to keep going cause I really want this baby out. (Labor is gonna be so much fun before the epidural)
I know it’s a 50/50 chance, but I’d love to hear any stories of being 40 weeks and getting it done!
UPDATE:
So I was advised to go to L&D; if any bleeding that resembled a period happened...I woke up from a nap and low and behold there was a quarter sized deep red clot on my pad.
In the triage L&D; area they examined me and found that when they had cleaned off the blood, more was still coming out. While the amount of blood is relatively normal it’s still more than usual. Since I’m pst my due date the doctors decided it be best they induce labor.
I’m nervous, even though it’s my second. With my first I was so young and didn’t digest as much of what was happening.
Today I asked so many questions about what they were going to do to induce and luckily there’s a team of qualified people here to answer all my annoying questions. They went through what each drug was and the side effects, etc.
They said it can take anywhere from 1-3 days. Wish me luck!
