38 weeks today, getting induced because of ICP

Kellie

Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) is a liver disorder which occurs during pregnancy.

I found out about this condition last Sunday when I couldn't sleep and was talking to a good friend on Facebook. I complained about being itchy for 3+ months. She mentioned about her friend having this condition; how she had to go into labor early. I did my research and panicked!

Apparently my doctor ran the test for it in January and didn't really tell me... I checked the rest result and found out that I definitely have it. Woke up Monday a miserable mess, crying because while this condition is okay for me, it is risky for baby; stillborn birth is a chance if we wait until he's full term (week 39) WHICH THE DOCTOR SAID WE WERE AIMING FOR & COULD SEE ME HAVING BABY LATER TOO.

My husband and I took off work to see the doctor that Monday; they ran the test again. Yesterday (Thursday), the test came back and after her following up with a specialist in the field, they recommended induced delivery.

So here I am at 4am this Friday, can't sleep in the hospital; getting prepped to be induced. My baby show be here tomorrow or the next day... or Sunday. I know it will be a prolonged labor and high chance of C-section (not preferred by me) but as a mother, I'm not going to risk increasing my baby chance of being a still born; she said it was a higher risk if we wanted until next week (week 39) or until he's ready to come.

I'M EXCITED, NERVOUS AND EVERYTHING. But my wonderful husband is here with me; my family and friends are rooting for me. Can't wait to see my little guy soon...
