Are Schools Covering Up History?

There are many debates about what schools are teaching, and a popular one is about how they are teaching history.

Some of the debates on here have been about Christopher Columbus and Ghandi, and how we only ever learned the positives about them.

My question is, do you think that schools are trying to cover up certain parts of history, or at least to an extent? Have you had personal experiences with yourself or your child in school not being taught the whole truth?

Since I grew up in Virginia, a very historical state, we were taught about the colonization, and how the settlers treated the Native Americans. My school did a pretty good job, but do you think it’s a valid concern? If not, why?
