Nothing has changed

Last night at the Oscars, among the incredible #metoo and #timesup movements, Kobe Bryant won an Oscar. However, this is man who was accused of rape by a 19 year old who had physical lacerations and bruisings as a result of this encounter. Instead of being supported, her character and reputations were ripped apart to justify it, to the extent that she refused to testify. She received death threats and was not treated with the proper dignity and care needed for a rape victim.

And yet, he wins an Oscar, and continues to be one of the most celebrated basketball players.

There are many other examples of this kind of hypocrisy at the oscars, but I wanted to share this one, because as I woke up to social media celebrating his win, I wanted to show that this is also someone who can violently assault someone and still walk away with multiple product endorsements and an Oscar.
