Just friends?

I’ve been friends with this guy for years and we recently started hanging out again. We both got out of long term relationships about 3 months ago and have been hanging out strictly as friends, but the flirting between us has been persistent and it feels like we both want more than friendship. I can tell I’m falling for him, but I’m not sure what to do because his best friend has feelings for me and I’m afraid he’s holding back because of him. Should I just stay friends with him or try to see if it could be more?
