Are trailer homes trashy?

So, while on my honeymoon we were in east TN walking around, and there was a showing of trailer homes at Clayton Homes, which is a mobile home dealer. My husband and I went in every shop we could on the strip, so we thought why not? While walking up to the building these two ladies approached us and said “ surely y’all aren’t looking at buying this redneck shit, it’s trashy”.

I was shocked first of all by the boldness and rudeness of these women, but it made me think, does the rest of the world think this way? Is there a negative connection to trailer homes with trashiness?

I personally don’t see the issue, or why anyone would even care. It’s a home, just like your home and mine.

But, I’m curious. Tell me y’alls opinions!!
