IUD..
I’ve had the Kyleena IUD for about 7 weeks now and I just wanted to share my story and hear some of your stories as well for anyone who is thinking of choosing this method of birth control because the first thing I did when considering this was looking for others’ experiences. I went in for a yearly exam and told my DR I was thinking of switching methods. I previously used the pill and condoms for about 6 years from the time I was 16 on. I had some trouble losing weight while on the pill and heard this may help. She got my insurance approval and we scheduled my appointment as closely to my period as possible and she also gave me a cervix softener to take one day before and the morning of. The prep that went into the insertion (pregnancy test, ultrasound etc) took about 10 minutes itself and the insertion only about 5 minutes. The pain at the worst point I would rate at probably a 6 or 7 for only about 30 seconds at most. The rest was mainly uncomfortable like a usual Pap smear. The hardest part for me was the 2 hours afterwords. I had to sit with a cold rag and a ginger ale before i was aloud to get up because I felt very nauseous and dizzy. (She said it was normal for some people) and the cramps after were pretty intense. Once the sickness subsided it was actually pretty bearable. I sat for the next 2 days with my heating pad and taking Tylenol every few hours. I would definitely have someone drive you to your appointment if this is something you are looking to do. Thankfully my bf is very supportive and waited for me to finish and drove me home. Good thinking on my part because I was very sick after. I didn’t start bleeding for another day or two and then it was like a normal period for me. Which tends to be very light anyway, but nothing abnormal. So now 7 weeks in this is my first week that I haven’t been spotting. I’ve only had the one full period since insertion. My bf and I are back to our normal sex life after about a week and he swears he cannot feel the stings at all. I sometimes get cramps from time to time randomly (I’m writing this currently sitting with my heating pad) but ladies if this thought has ever crossed your mind DO IT. I would marry my iud if I could. Hell if I ever decide to have children after this I could name my first born Kyleena. (Not actually!😂) I’ve also dropped about 7 pounds which was the initial thing that pointed me to the IUD in the first place! I hope by writing this it could serve a purpose to help someone who may be looking for answers like I once was.
