When did you speak to your OB about VBAC

Just curious when that conversation took place for most women

At my first appointment I said I wanted a vbac and I was told that I would have to change obs. And get my insurance to accept an out of network doctor since the two in network hospitals have vbac bans. It took a month and a rejection and lots of phone calls but they finally agreed to a tolac(trial of labor after a c section) and I had my successful vbac almost 19 months after my c section.

With every pregnancy after my first one, I made appointments to first meet and speak with the caregiver in question. I had midwives only. That would determine whether we were a good match.
If the midwife was good with a TOL (trial of labor), she would be more supportive of the idea of a VBAC. 
Just keep in mind, our bodies, hormones and situations change through the journey of pregnancy. You may start as a good candidate but it could be likely that a c-section is the safest route to bring your little one into this World.

I asked my OB that delivered my son at my 6 week post appointment mainly because I knew I wanted more children. He had told me that the hospital doesn’t allow them to do VBACs so I’d have to find another OB/hospital that would allow one. We’re trying again and I’m hoping to get to at least attempt a VBAC. I just got my refferal and that appointment is booked for August 1st for me, I'll be almost 30 weeks so I will be 3rd Trimester. I think its usually in the 3rd trimester.

First appointment. We didn’t want someone that was not supportive. We ended up going through 5 other doctors before we found one that was supportive of VBACs.

I’m on my 3rd trimester due in June and I’m going for a vbac.. I don’t have money to hire a doula or midwife so I’m just getting support from my OB and my husband/family... I’m reading as many successes stories as possible... if anyone has any other tips please let me know!! I would say talk to your OB as soon as you start the third trimester and take it from there.

I have started now. I’m only 5 weeks 5 days. The only reason I started this early was because sometimes it’s very hard to find a hospital and doctor that is willing to give it a shot. I find a lot of the doctors don’t want too and you have to find a doctor that is willing to try with you. And it’s easier to start early just in case you need to find another doctor.

I started during the first trimester and pretty much bring it up every appointment. My doctors rotate depending on who's available when I am so I want to make sure they all know my intentions. I also like to hear each one's opinions on the matter. It's great peace of mind being so open about it and getting all the facts.
