Feelings fuck with relationships

I wanted something more, something stable. But Everytime I brought it up to the guy I was seeing, he said he didn't want to be boyfriend girlfriend. But we were seeing each other for nearly 4 months and just met my kids. I explained I wanted stability. Since he couldn't make a decision on us, I ended it. I hear the regret over the phone, and see it all over his face in person. He tells me he thought we had a good thing going and that he really likes me. Now I'm having mixed feelings about it all.

Since the break up, all my "friends" and family are happy I left him. There's a friend of mine who was so excited and like "now you can go on a date with this guy".

I was so confident after the break up. Now I'm just so confused.
