When did you start buying items like a crib, stroller, car seat etc?

When what we wanted to buy was on sale, or we could afford it.

I just bought the car seat yesterday and I'm 37 weeks. Everything else is bought

Some of this depends on your baby shower date.  We had been buying like crazy during our second trimester then our moms and aunts were miffed at us 'stop buying stuff before the shower!'  We are holding off now until week 36.

My mother wanted to buy the crib for us so we ended up getting it in the middle of the second trimester. My aunt bought us a dresser shortly after. I plan on waiting until after the baby shower to buy the rest of our big ticket items incase some family members want to go in together on one or two expensive items.
