Is having your baby shower the Saturday before mother's day tacky/rude?

I'm trying to settle something, I think it's tacky/rude and takes away from other people's plans with their mom's or kids

it's not on mother's day. bit what better way to celebrate becoming a mother than surrounding yourself with other mums, whole point of the shower. plus it's only a few hours, unless you have something ridiculous like an entire day booked up

I wouldn't say tacky, but some might complain. I had the same problem recently. I wanted my gender reveal party Sat March 31st and ppl said "well, it's the day before Easter." Umm what do ppl do the day before Easter? So moved it to April 7th. I say go with your gut and know who your audience is. If you think ppl won't like it. Like Easter, Mother's day is Sunday what would ppl be doing Saturday lol

I personally wouldn't. We celebrate mothers day with my mom the day before so my siblings can celebrate with their children the day of.  There is also traveling to consider, some people may be driving that night to celebrate with a mother out if town, or driving the whole next day. I'm personally not a fan of doing any type of party the day before a holiday that isnt a party for that holiday.

I was having the same dilemma and couldn’t decide if it was “ok.” I personally think it’s fine but my BFF is helping plan mine and it’s her first Mother’s Day and she mentioned how it would be nice to have the whole weekend free (to see her mom, mil, and then celebrate her own). I can see as a first time mom her feelings but otherwise I think it’s totally fine!

I got married between mother's day(the american & the spanish) and depends what day it falls on my wedding anniversary is on mother's day, it didn't take away anything it gave the family more to celebrate!!!!!
