Other POC and black panther

Saw this on my TL, I’m from Latin America and it honestly bothers me when other Spanish people or any other poc try to ‘compete’ with one another. Let’s be happy movements in representation are happening, not “oh black people got this movie so where’s ours” compare yourself to the 1,000’s of all white movies! why choose black panther? It should be, “okay when are we getting our own sound of music, or god father, etc?” Why try to take the shine away from other POC? Let’s lift each other up and not compete with each other for the limited lime light POC are given. instead let’s work to make it bigger. Don’t try to make an amazing progressive movie about something it isn’t and let’s respect its significance.

ALSO the Latin people who make these kind of comments need to support the Afro Latin actors in this movie, otherwise are being completely hypocritical. You complain about your people not being brought up while you bring them down??

This annoyed the shit outta me (the original post, not the clapback). Like, this type of anti-Blackness is why I don't consider myself a PoC. One, there is such a thing as Afro Latinos and all of my homies who identify that way were on were on their Wakanda para siempre flow. Two, Latinos weren't speaking up about the countless all white movies in the past, but as soon as there is an all Black movie, they want to say 'what about us?'. I am tired of non Black PoC riding our coattails with bullshit like this.

Totally agree as a spanish POC! It’s so hypocritical.

white latinx amd latinx in general are so antiblack it's embarrassing and I'm sorry for it. our entire culture and the mestizos wanna talk about how we are the cosmic race and constantly deny and talk over the issues and oppression of afrolatinx / black people all the dang time and it needs to stop 🙃

if any of the Latinos worried about "getting a black panther of their own" were even real marvel fans they would know there is at least 10 Latino superheroes even "el gato negro". people love to complain. it's not a competition.

Lol I totally feel this. And I'm glad to see my Afro Latinos siding with my Afro Americans. This world forget that the Afro is one body that was split up across the world, we've forgotten we are one. now trying to compete or judge each other's differences instead of seeing each other similarities. I follow this African woman on TikTok and she was like "it's crazy how much we act alike! With similar cultures😂" I'm going to be honest my first encounter with a Afro Latina idk she was Afro Latina. I was 14 working at a after school program and one of my students Mom came to pick him up. She had Singaleese twist I was like "I Love your hair 🥰" she said "No habla Ingles 😅" me:😕(English) you don't speak English? Ok sorry😕. Fell in love with the twist. Yeeears (Like 7 years) later when I heard about Afro Latinos I looked back and was like "I get why she didn't speak English" I'm almost 25 and singaleese twist are still one of my favorites styles to rock🤭👸🏾.
