Fighting Naps

seriously, I wanted to die today lol. I'm due next month with second boy, and lately my 17 month old has been fighting naps and sleep. he has went down to only one nap in the last couple weeks, and I know he is getting molars in but still... last few days he is tired so I lay him down for his nap and he will play and giggle and talk to himself for up to 2.5 hours!! then he will start crying and I have to rub his head and make him sleep. today he was yawning so we laid him down and he right away was full of energy talking and messing around and I wanted to take a nap myself. sooo, I tried to lay him down with me in bed and he started crying and fighting. this then turned into an uncontrollable screaming roaring snot nosed fit for 2 hours. I tired everything to get him calmed down. I laid him in crib but then he would reach for me, I tried rocking him , laying him with me, holding him tight till he gave in...nothing worked. he wanted every blanket he saw and his stuffed animal and he couldnt even hold them all so it made him more upset. he was so angry . I have NEVER seen him so out of control. he was so tired tho, his eyes would almost shut at times then he would pick back up. finally after 2 hours I got him some water and walkedk around with him and got him distracted and he calmed down and fell alseep in 30 seconds.... I just don't want that to happen again. my husband tried helping , but baby's crying really gets to him. I'm just venting cuz I didn't know what to do... is this just cuz of that annoying leap they are going thru at this age?
