2 hour labor

Ho

On March 16 at 9:40pm, I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, no signs of labor, when I had my first contraction. I continued to have them 4 minutes for the next 30 minutes so I called my doctor and headed to the hospital. By the time we got to the hospital, a half hour away, my contractions were 2 minutes apart and as I got out of the car my water broke. When I got to triage I was 6 cm. I immediately asked for an epidural. They moved me into a room and got an IV in me. Contractions continued to get closer and I asked about the epidural. I told them my body was starting to push and they checked me again and I was at 9 cm. The doctor hustled in and barely made it. I started to push at 11:30 and at 11:36pm my handsome boy made his arrival...no epidural, not quite 2 hours after my first contraction.

This was my second child. With my first, my water broke in my sleep, with no previous signs of labor and I had her 4 hours later. My husband has only ever wanted two kids but I always wanted 3 but if the trend continues, I don’t think an hour is going to be enough time to get to the hospital and get in a room. Hubby might win this one.
