We Lost An American Olympian?

So I was listening to this podcast and around 7:20 they make a comment saying "Well we know what happened to the last man who hung around the Kardashians, Bruce Jenner. We lost an American Olympian."

I was shocked by that. I don't think we should say we lost an amazing athlete and strip Caitlyn Jenner of their accomplishments. Other people in the comments seem split. Some people are saying technically we did lose an Olympian because she isn't Bruce Jenner anymore and had all the success as Bruce Jenner. I don't agree with that but what do you all think?
