GD test??

Question

Can someone explain to me the gestational  diabetes test, I know it’s a drink but that’s it. Do I fast? 
Drink it at home or dr office? 
What should my numbers be? 
What if I “fail”? 
How gross is it really.....?

I had my 1 hour today. I was told to eat a protein filled breakfast. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don't know yet if I passed. If I had to fast, I probably would have puked. 
The drink itself is not that bad. Like a flat orange soda. But I felt like shit when I got home. 😩

I didn’t have to fast. They sent me home from my apt at 24 weeks with the drink. I was told to drink it in 10 min, note the time when I finished it and get to the lab 45 min later for a blood draw at 1 hour. 
I failed. 
The three hour I showed up fasting, they took blood. I drank the drink and they took blood every hour for 3 hours. I passed that one.

Some doctors say fasting, some say you dont have to fast, just not during the test. Personally I have always heard of fasting. It depends if you are going for the 1 or 3 hour test. For The one hour test, you go into the lab place or wherever, they draw your blood. Then they make you drink that nasty drink, wait an hour and draw it again, then you go home! 
For the three hour, it’s the same as the one hour but they draw blood after the first hour, make you wait another hour, draw again, then another hour, then the final blood draw. It SUCKS!! 
I failed both, so I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes unfortunately. From that point on, I had to check my sugar levels at home and eat very carefully. No processed sugars, etc. I was limited to 175 carbs per day actually. But, it actually made me feel better since the sugar highs I was having before were making me feel really lethargic and just overall crappy!!

you fast, no food or liquid aside from water after 10 PM usually if the test is first thing in the morning. my first three kids they drew blood before hand but this one they didn't. then you drink the drink there and they draw blood an hour later. if you fail you do the same thing except they take your blood every hour for 3 hours afterwards
