Ultrasound or fetal doppler?

I keep reading all these posts about not getting an ultrasound done until 12 weeks.  I have my first ob appointment April 6th which I’ll be 9 weeks. I know every ob is different, but will my doctor check the heartbeat even if she doesn’t do an ultrasound? I’m so confused! What has been your experience?!

I had an ultrasound first but at my 10 week appt they used a Doppler for the heartbeat.

At 8.3 weeks i had first appt had US seen baby heard HB. Every appt after that is a check up and hear HB each time.
