Telling family/social media post?

Emma

Okay. So my boyfriend and I met about 4 years ago online. We were 14. For understandable reasons, my mom was not a fan of the fact I talked to random strangers online (she didn’t find out until nearly two years after I met this guy and she made it clear she didn’t approve of me talking to him). For this reason, none of my family knows about him or our relationship. My friends all know, but that’s about it. We are 18 now and still have yet to be able to meet up in person. We are hoping to be able to make it work finally this summer and after that we have talked a little about the possibility of him moving in with me in the fall. My problem right now is that I want to finally just tell the world about us and since I’m 18 now and not under my parents control as much (although I still love them and care about their opinions). I’m considering just posting an appreciation post about him on social media as a way to discretely introduce the idea of him at least to my family. I know he would be okay with this (he doesn’t feel the need to hide our relationship but understands why I have), but I’m wondering if this would be an okay way of doing things? Any advice or insight at all would be very much so appreciated!
