1st yeast infection :(

I’m 18 years old and have had the implant for over a year. I got my first years infection and it’s weird because I was on my period and got some discomfort after my period ended. I went to the doctor and she told me it was a yeast infection, she gave me a cream and it instantly relieved some of my symptoms. I started my period again and stopped using the cream because this was unusual for me to have two full length periods stop and start within a week. A week after my period ended my discomfort is back. Is this normal????
