What’s everyone’s opinion on cheating and taking their partners back or not? What would you do?

Me and my girlfriends were having this conversation and there was a mixed response from us all!

I personally couldn’t take my partner back because at the time he was cheating on me he obviously didn’t care for me or think about me. I’d always be second guessing him and the trust would be gone. He obviously couldn’t have loved me that much or at all if he’s gone else where🤷🏼‍♀️ although I think until you’re in the situation you wouldn’t know for sure.

In no way will i judge anyone’s opinion I’m just curious!💜

I can put up with A LOT, I’m willing to forgive so many things, but cheating is the absolute deal breaker, no noo nooooo🙅🏻‍♀️

My ex cheated on me and I have a strict rule about not entertaining that so I dumped him 🤷🏻‍♀️. It sucked because otherwise, I think we would have been together longer but you just can’t let people treat you like that, no matter how sorry they say they are.

I’ve took my current partner back after ‘cheating’ I’m not sure if it’s the right choice or not, it’s still early days. We’re trying to work things out & if it doesn’t then at least we tried. I currently don’t trust him with a specific person but we’re working on it and that’s all we can do. I love him and he made a mistake, I’m hoping anyway. 
Why would he stick around me being psycho if he didn’t want to be with me? It’d be a much easier option for him to leave. 
Since he cheated I don’t make life ‘easy’ for him. I’m very temperamental and emotional, I go hot and cold a lot (as to be expected) and he’s the type of person that would leave if it wasn’t worth it. 
 I don’t believe that once a cheat always is a cheat is true, I’ve cheated (not this relationship) in the past but I’d never dream of doing it again.

it's too nuanced a situation to make a blanket poll selection IMO. Is it a one time thing, a long thing? is he remorseful or not? was it a friend or a stranger? did he tell me or did I find out on my own?

Honestly it depends on the situation. My boyfriend has physically and emotionally cheated on me and this isn't the type of relationship to have but basically he did anything I asked and I was like in control of our relationship. He's changed a lot. He was drunk(not an excuse) he physically cheated and the second he was still super immature.   But my friends talked me into giving him a another chance and I'm glad I did. He treats me better than anyone else ever has. I have full access to his phone whenever I want it and everyone including me can tell he really cares about me. So In my opinion, if the guy can grow up and be a man then give him another chance. Otherwise if the behavior continues ditch his ass.

My husband and I talked about this the other day. I told him that I would never stay with him if he cheated. He said he would stay with me if I did. 
My reasoning was because while I’m at home raising our kid, he’s sitting next to me on the couch, laying in bed with me, riding in the car, grocery shopping, out at dinner, around our families, at work or any other situation you can think of, texting and entertaining another female. He’s putting time and effort into someone else, all while I’m next to him, giving him and our life together 100% thinking everything is okay. He’s not only lying, he’s taking everything I hold special and shitting on it. He’s saying another woman’s time and body are better than mine. 
So no, if my husband cheated on me, it’s not a mistake. It’s not a one time thing. It’s not him needing to have a physical void filled. It’s unforgivable in my eyes and I would not stay. I wouldn’t even entertain the idea of staying.

Have enough respect for yourself to be with someone who is loyal to you. Too many people forget to love themselves enough that they’ll accept any kind of love from someone else, even if that person cheats. Cheating is not ok. Open relationships as long as it’s consensual on all sides is fine. Cheating is different and personal boundaries should be established early on no matter what kind of relationship you’re in.

I love this topic lol once a cheater ALWAYS a cheater. I've been cheated on enough and have also realized I was the second woman waaay too many times to think other wise. If someone does not care in the first place about the potential of getting caught and losing you enough to cheat and THEN you take them back once they got caught you're basically encouraging their behavior. It's like a troubled kid. You can tell him no but if you give him ice cream afterwards will he ever learn to stop? and even if he realizes it's wrong WHY would he stop?
