HELP!

Advice needed please!

I’m doing LDR with my SO. We’re at an impasse on how we communicate between visits. He loves phone calls and I really appreciate written communication - texts, letters, emails. But he says he doesn’t have time to write me a text, he doesn’t have his phone on him most of the day to reply to mine and his schedule just won’t allow for time to sit and write me a letter. (Also doesn’t help he smashed his phone recently)

I get he’s busy (studying medicine 3rd year) but am I really asking too much? We talk on the phone every night but they sometimes turn into fights and we hang up feeling like our days are ruined because of the phone call. We’re just not a very good communicating LDR couple. In person we’re fantastic - love all around. But apart it’s just so hard.

I just want to know how to make things easier. Do I have to settle for less? Is it on me to budge or on him to step up and give a little more? It been like this for the last few weeks and I’m afraid it’ll get worse the longer we are between visits 😥 please anyone reply. I would so appreciate your thoughts
